This towel is woven with linen forming the weft and cotton in the warp.
The combination of these two natural plant fibers gives you characteristic softness and durability. Fabrics woven with linen and cotton last a lifetime.
To knit this linen and cotton towel I have used the speck technique, which they also call gorullo in some regions. It is a technique in which the thread of the frame around an object is curled and leaves a "speck"; this is done with a very specific design pattern, which in this case I have reproduced from an old model. It is a very original grape cenefa with grape leaves, with two cenefas framing it.
It is an ancient technique and per per example it is slow in the fabric: you have to count threads to form the exact drawing of the design.
Finished with knots and loose fringe of 8 cm.
These types of towels and fabrics for the house, were passed from mothers to daughters and are and were then highly appreciated; they are special fabrics with their own charm, simple and elegant.
For its design and finish it can be used for both decoration and personal use. It can also be used as a table path, dressing any corner.
Being a unique piece, it can be reproduced, but with another design (if desired on request) that can consist of the initials or the name of the person to which it is intended, or make two, each with a similar design to differentiate them...
WASHING AND CONSERVATION TIPS
Wash with neutral soap if possible.
It can be washed in hot or cold water. By hand or in a washing machine, but if the washing machine is used, I recommend putting the towel in a wash bag to prevent the fringes from getting very tangled and facilitate ironing.
Shake lightly before tending, and tend straight for easy ironing as well.
The fabric will keep with the washing the current measurements, because in the finish I include the washing and has already shrunk everything that had to shrink.
Iron when it's not dry at all yet. Ironing when the fabric is still wet makes ironing much easier. Iron in all directions, wide and long.
Fringes, if they get a little tangled, can be released by hand, once dry.
With washing it improves in softness and absorption power. It loses the natural raw tone and becomes slightly whiter.
If you are storing the towel, the only precaution is to keep it clean and without trace of moisture.
